Delila Estate PRE is located in the mountains between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The valley of soreq In the book of judges it said that Samson went to see a woman name Delila that lived in the valley of Soreq. As we look from our ranch at the valley of Soreq that lays bellow us we see the same trails that Samson used to roam, we see the little Kibbutz that once was a town where he was born name Zora and as we ride our horses into the creeks between the mountains we see the caves where lions used to live and the spot where Samson killed the lion "from the beast came the sweet" We call or ranch Delila estate, where we raise our horses and make our wine and work the land as our people did as far back as history of our people goes. Not a day goes by that we don't saddle up and ride the trail, the trails of Samson, his life, his wars and his love, so great that he gave his life for. The story of how Delila Estate PRE came to be is when we made a trip at the beginning of 2007 to the U.S. and met Avi Cohen of Kilimanjaro Ranch in Malibu through a mutual friend who shared the love and passion of the PRE horse. Prior to that time we had raised quarterhorses. Shlomi and I rode Avi's stallion Granito and fell in love with the breed. At the moment we experienced the thrill of that particular PRE breed, we knew that would be the new direction our love for horses would take. We asked Avi to come to Israel to educate us more about this breed. Avi asked the organization in Spain, ANCEE, to send us brochures and videos prior to his arrival so that the information could be disseminated to us. We had a wonderful evening in the neighborhood of Tel Aviv with wine and cheese. Approximately 40 horse lovers of all breeds joined us to learn about the PRE horse. We were able to watch videos, look at magazines, and ask questions about the breed. Avi was pushing for a new organization to start in Israel, but we did not have enough horses or enough knowledge about the breed at that time. Avi suggested that we attend SICAB to learn more about the PRE horse. Unfortunately, we could not attend that event as we were expecting a new member of our family who arrived shortly thereafter, a beautiful daughter whom we named Mica. When Avi returned from Spain to the U.S., he called us and let us know that he saw a beautiful mare that we absolutely must have. And we did! We bought the mare sight unseen, based on Avi's experience and belief that this was the right mare for us. On February 4, 2008 Edgar Heyn arrived with the mare, being his first trip to Israel and the first transport to Israel of a PRE mare. Since her arrival, we are admiring the breed even more and are understanding why people thrive to own a PRE. We will do whatever it takes to get this organization off the ground in Israel. Shlomi and I are planning a trip to Spain in May of 2008, and we are talking about procuring a good Stallion!
