I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH ALL OF YOU THIS E MAIL WHICH I RECEIVED FROM A FRIEND FROM SOUTH AFRICA . EXCLUSIVO , HER STALLION , HAS HAD A MOST REMARKABLE LIFE STORY , BORN AT THE VALDEOLIVAS STUDFARM HE WAS USED AS A POLICE HIGH SCHOOL TRAINED SHOW HORSE IN ESTEPONA - MALAGA , AND AFTER YEARS I FOUND HIM AT A RIDING SCHOOL NEAR MADRID . I LOVED THE HORSE , BROUGHT HIM TO MY STABLES AND SOLD HIM TO KATHY HERRINGTON , WHO TOOK HIM WITH HER TO SOUTH AFRICA . THIS IS HER STORY : Hi
When about 10 months ago I heard from a visiting friend that my stallion Exclusivo was found protectively assisting one of my ewes by licking her firstborn, while she was giving birth to her second lamb, I thought it was a curiosity - a fluke.
~But no - I have just come indoors from reuniting another ewe with both of her lambs - they had got separated in the ewe's confusion after birth and there was Ivo patiently standing guard by the pathetically bleating tiny black scrap of life whilst 'mum' was trying to decide where she should be.
He is a very special boy (Just turned 18 and thriving) and was most indignant when I stopped him from joining the family in the sheep shelter (despite it being rather low and tight for him to enter)(It is miserable and drizzly today and the newborns need time to work out who feeds them - this breed of sheep normally only produce singles and the mums get a bit confused)
One day I will get my act together and take photographs! Got 3 more very fat ladies - so maybe I will get another chance then!!
Isn't life full of mysteries?!
Kathy
