By the end of the year 2003 a new line of “Estirpe Cartujana” horses was born. This stud farm is rebuilt selling all its previous products and buying a very important lot of black an bay coat carthusians thoroughbred mares and two carthusians thoroughbred stallions, one bay and one grey. The mares names: AIROSA XXV, STUDIANTA XIX, PALOMA XV, QUIMICA XIV, RUMBOSA LI, SALEROSA-HCS y SERENA XXX. The two stallions are: SIGILOSO III and HEROICO XI. On January 2005 three new mares are incorporated to the herd, also bay coat, two of them, from “D. Juan Manuel de Urquijo y Novales” stud farm. Their names are: SIGILOSA, USURPADORA III, and INGENIOSA XXXVII. On February 2006 the stud farm acquired a stallion called OSADO V from “Hierro del Bocado (Terry)”. This is a very important acquisition because the stallion is a qualifiqued reproductor. Son of the stallion BELICO III, and OSADA IV, he is the brother of other remarkable horses such as JUDIO VII (Ecumad 2001 Spanish Official Champion, runner-up as champion of the breed in the Spanish Championship SICAB 2001 and SICAB 2005, Champion of the breed in Oviedo 2005) and the mare called BRUMA IX (Ecumad 2001 Spanish Official Champion, SICAB 2001 9th section Champion, runner-up SICAB 2004 11th section, thoroughbred Champion of the breed in Oviedo 2005. The veterinary staff has made rigorous D.N.A. investigations in order to determine beforehand the possibilities of the coats of their future products. These studies have proved the repetition of the recessive variant of “Agouti” gene and “Extension” gene; this means the black, bay, chestnut and dun coats. In this new era of the stud farm we have stressed on the purity, class and breed which distinguish the Carthusians horses of P.R.E. which are loyal to its genetic base for over five hundred years. In this respect, we can say that there is no breeder in the world who does not have in their stallions genealogy the brand of “Hierro del Bocado” (Terry) and is proud of it. Nowadays the “Hierro del Bocado” stud farm is part of the Spanish state heritage which has assumed the responsibility to keep and improve this unique genetic heritage.
